Skeletal Serpent Choker by kyphoscoliosis Skeletal Serpent Choker by kyphoscoliosis
NO, NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS NECKLACE. I found the snake dead on the side of the road, I promise you. Of anyone, I would be the last person to harm a gnat.
I've actually had this made for a very long time, though I've just now posted it. It is the vertebrae of a southern copperhead snake (Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix) intricately glued into shape after all the soft tissue was dissolved for months in a jar with a bleach and water solution. Each vertebra was refitted by hand, as was the skull (with the snake's skeletal chart handy ;3 ) and shaped to the curvature of my neck. It's stiff, so it could fit few people other than me. The black cord is strung through the empty spinal cord holes in each vertebra, latching in the back.
It's not comfortable for long-term wear, but it's a pretty badass accessory, since snakes are my favorite animals ;3

NOTE: Neither I nor my brother do custom work. Our crafts are strictly for our own use and are unfortunately not for sale. We have neither the time, money, nor patience to make these crafts a continuous job.

Well this just blew my mind.
That sounds like so much effort and attention, I would never have the patience to do anything that could even come close to how badass this is.

Thanks so much, sweetheart. It wasn't too tedious, but it did take some time.

A fitting tribute to a magnificent animal. That is a unique way to honor the snake who passed on. ^^

Thanks! I hated to see that beautiful creature dead, though. I love snakes so much. I really should have let ants eat away the flesh instead of soaking it off in alcohol. Thanks for seeing the artistry in it <3

You are welcome!

It kind of reminds me of when I was little, and I was playing with the neighbor boys. They found a dead baby rattler, so we took it and sort of honored it by coming up with an entire snake related culture. It was weird, but interesting.

That's pretty cool, actually :) As a kid, I used to bury dead animals I found and put flowers on their grave :d

That is kickass. I would love to buy it XDD Though I doubt I'd have enough money ^^;. I really do like it, my mom would freak lol. It's not like it's NOT sanitary cause it totally is but she hates snakes XDD. I wanna buy it cause it's badass and she hates snakes XD. Just like I wanna buy that clock choker you made.

Shush! XDDD It's not my fault you make the kewlest things and I wanna buy em if you're willing to sell(mainly that clock choker ^^; more than this cause I showed mom and she had a shitfit.)
That works, it should be pretty sanitary overall XDD
You have a forked tongue!? Really!? Omg...that's amazing XD. I like snakes at a distance. I couldn't hold one cause I'm too afraid of being bitten and all ^^; I hate pain...DX

OMG SHITFIT <33333333333333333333333333
Yes, I do! And I have two photos of it in my gallery, lawl XD
Snakebites don't really hurt that bad -- especially if they're nonvenomous; they just try to munch you XD If you hold them right they won't bite you ;3

I'll have to look in your gallery now for the pics XDD
Well...^^; I hate pain in general so that's the main downside there. Any pain and I hate it XDDD I know, I'd have to learn but I'm not OVERLY willing to ^^; (lol I wanna be the first to know if you decide to sell that clockwork choker you made please!! ^^)

I have a philosophy on pain that I stick to, and it gets me over any fear of any pain when I refer to it, it's awesome :3

I'm truly sorry, but I'm quite attached to my clockwork choker. One of my favorite pieces :3

All I can tell you is that you need to head to a nearby Goodwill or consignment shop and pick up a cheap leather purse for the strap (make sure it has a buckle, or find a belt or watch around the same size as the strap that has one) and head to Michael's for the clock face/hands, and a Walmart for the hammered metal finish brass spraypaint :3 Add cheap superglue and maybe some crude stitching (that takes no skill, I promise you. I suck ASS at sewing. Just LOOK at the buckle end of it!) and you've got yourself a steampunk masterpiece :3

Demmit. Well I'll be here if you EVER think of selling the clockwork choker XD.

Thing is, I have no money -.-;; I have that problem where I need to get a job, but parents say community hours come first(plus I only have my beginner's license and need a fully licensed person with me to drive anywhere -.-;; ). Lol how much would you charge if you made another?

I have to agree--this is the bad assery of jewelry. I can see wearing it against something black and satin, or maybe velvet because it would scratch bare skin.

It wasn't that hard, it was just tedious, and required patience for the tissue to dissolve in the jar XD
Thanks hon :3
Lol you can just imagine going into my room and seeing this dissolving snake in a jar, haha XD

My God that is amazing.

My mom would most likely scream if she saw it though. She's terrified of snakes.

She was okay about the snake skin that I hammered to a board. Snake was long dead so my grandpa helped me skin it and find a long enough board.
